Star City Singles Speed Dating

1. Our Community Commitment

Star City Singles Speed Dating (“Star City Singles”) is designed to create a welcoming, respectful space where genuine connections can form.  The following rules are applicable to all Star City Singles services and events.

Participants in Star City Singles events (“Participants”) are expected to show up with honesty, kindness, emotional maturity, and respect for personal boundaries.

Every Participants helps shape the experience of the event.

By attending, Participants agree to uphold these shared standards.

2. Eligibility & Identity

All Participants must meet eligibility requirements, including the relationship status criteria, to participate in Star City Singles events and services.

Star City Singles relies upon the accurate self-report of Participants concerning their eligibility under these criteria.  Misrepresentation by a Participant of any kind concerning a Participants’ eligibility to participate in Star City Singles events shall be deemed a waiver of any and all claims against Star City Singles.  Participants acknowledge that their report of eligibility to participate in an event or services is expressly relied upon by Star City Singles in permitting Participants’ participation in any Star City Singles events or services.

All Participants must be over the age of 21 years old.

Participants must register using their legal name.

Participants must provide accurate personal information including date of birth, home and mailing address, and phone number.

Participants must present valid identification if requested.

Participants must wear the name provided at check-in during the event.

Given the nature of the services that Star City Singles provides, persons who are convicted felons, are registered sex offenders, or are subject to an active judicial protective order are not eligible to participate in Star City Singles events.

3. Relationship Status

Participants must not be married or engaged.

Participants must not be in a committed exclusive relationship.

Participants must be fully and genuinely available to pursue a new romantic relationship.

A Participant’s misrepresentation concerning their relationship status, eligibility, or other material information may result in removal without refund and permanent ban from future events.

4. Code of Conduct

Harassment, verbal abuse, threats, or intimidation are not permitted.

Unwanted physical contact or persistent unwanted advances after a clear refusal are not permitted.

Abusive or offensive behavior and language of any kind, including based upon race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability, is not permitted.

Sexual misconduct, explicit propositions, or inappropriate touching are not permitted.

Disorderly conduct, fighting, aggressive behavior, or excessive intoxication are not permitted. Disorderly conduct includes making misleading or false statements to other participants about one’s identity, relationship status, or other matters affecting the participant’s eligibility to participate in Star City Singles’ events or services.

Disrupting the structure or flow of a Star City Singles event is not permitted.

Star City Singles reserves the right to remove any Participant from an event for any reason, including behavior deemed unsafe or disruptive.

Firearms are not permitted at Star City Singles events.

Star City Singles events are not a forum for sales or soliciting of any kind.  Sales and solicitation of any kind by Participants is prohibited.

5. Alcohol Policy

Excessive intoxication, disruptive behavior, or impairment of any kind that affects the experience of others is not permitted.

Star City Singles reserves the right to remove any Participant whose level of intoxication is deemed inappropriate for the event.

Participants are fully responsible for their own alcohol consumption and related decisions.

6. Personal Responsibility & Assumption of Risk

Meeting new people involves inherent social and personal risks.

Star City Singles relies upon Participants’ self-report of eligibility criteria. Star City Singles does not conduct background checks and does not guarantee or warrant the character, background, or intentions of any Participant.  

Participants are solely responsible for their interactions during and after the event, including communication or meetings outside of the event.

By attending, Participants accept full responsibility for their personal decisions and conduct.

7. No Guarantee of Match

Participation in a Star City Singles event does not guarantee a match or continued communication.

Matches are based solely on mutual selections.

8. Removal & Ban Policy

Star City Singles may refuse entry, remove Participants, or permanently ban Participants at its discretion.

Participants who are refused entry, removed from an event, or banned from events for any reason are not eligible for a refund of any kind.

9. Release of Liability

Star City Singles and its staff are not responsible for the maintenance or condition of any venue. Star City Singles does not warrant the safety, security, or condition of any venue for its Events. Participants must use ordinary care for their own safety concerning the condition of any event venue.  Any unsafe conditions that are observed concerning the venue must be brought to the attention of venue staff immediately.

*Participants understand that Star City Singles Speed Dating does not conduct background checks of Participants or warrant the suitability or character of Participants.  Star City Singles is designed to foster an environment for mutual conversations in a face-to-face setting.  By participating in the Star City Singles events, you are responsible for exercising common sense for your own safety, belongings, and well-being.  

Participants agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Star City Singles, its owners, and staff from any and all claims of any kind whatsoever, including but not limited to personal injury, emotional distress, or property loss, arising out of any third party’s conduct, including but not limited to other Participants and owners or operators of any venue.

This release applies to events occurring before, during, and after participation.

A Participant’s failure to provide accurate and complete information to Star City Singles when registering for, or participating in, an event, including but not limited to information concerning the Participant’s eligibility to participate in events and services under these rules, shall constitute a waiver of all claims against Star City Singles Speed Dating.

By participating in Star City Singles, Participants agree to waive a trial by jury for any and all claims whatsoever arising against or including Star City Singles, and agree that venue for any and all claims whatsoever arising against or including Star City Singles shall be in the County of Roanoke, Virginia.

10. Indemnification

Participants agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Star City Singles, its owners, and staff from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, expenses, and reasonable attorney’s fees arising out of the Participant’s conduct in connection with any Star City Singles event or services.

This includes claims brought by other Participants or third parties resulting from a Participant’s behavior during or after the event.

11. Media Release

Star City Singles may take photos or videos during the event for promotional purposes.

Participants may opt out by notifying the host in writing prior to the event.

12. Agreement & Acknowledgment

By purchasing a ticket and attending, Participants acknowledge that they have read and agreed to this Participation Agreement and Code of Conduct.  By signing below, Participant warrants and represents under penalty of perjury that they meet the eligibility requirements set forth above to participate in Star City Singles events.
